Color Tracking Synthesizer
Here is another Max/MSP project, this time diving into the complexities of Jitter, the video component of the program. Using only the code available to me in Max/MSP and Jitter, I created a color-tracking interface using an integrated webcam that then controlled the pitch and other elements of two tones which then would work in concert to create a pseudo-motion-controlled synthesizer. The user would select a color visible in the webcam’s preview window, and Max would then commence tracking the position of that color on the screen, as it moved around in real space. Those coordinates would then be converted into values that would modify an audio output. In other words, it was all a somewhat roundabout way of making a motion-controlled instrument. This project would serve as a foundation for my undergraduate capstone and last Max/MSP related project to date.
