Project H.E.A.R.T.
I had the opportunity to work with multimedia artists Sofian Audry and Erin Gee in the development of a virtual reality art installation called Project H.E.A.R.T. I worked as a contributing composer for the project and sound designer, creating the intro and outro track for the experience and producing the voice work used for the game.
The track, titled “Welcome to Evolution” after a common catchphrase found in-game, was composed with reference to the game’s primary 80s-synthwave soundtrack by Lazerblade, sharing the same melody as its intro. I arranged it as an accompanying piece for the pre-rendered introductory cutscene, syncing up various musical cues with the visuals of the player moving through a sci-fi factory-like environment and eventually meeting one of the project’s characters, who is also represented in the track through a voice synthesizer.
“A twist on popular “militainment” shooter video games, Project H.E.A.R.T. invites the viewer to place their fingers on a custom biodata device, and summon their enthusiasm to engage their avatar, Yowane Haku, in “combat therapy.” Fans of the Vocaloid characters may recognize Haku as the “bad copy” of Japanese pop celebrity Hatsune Miku, a holographic personnage that invites her fans to pour their content and songs into her virtual voice.” -From the Project H.E.A.R.T. about page.
