Writing Creatively

I've had a vivid imagination for as long as I can remember. As a kid, sometimes I would just be in the backseat of a car or lying in bed giving myself goosebumps over some crazy new story I envisioned in my mind. I could bring myself to tears or into a fit of joy or rage just by imagining the feelings or the words or actions of someone totally made up in my head. I needed some way to share these emotions, these worlds with others, and writing was the first medium I realized I could do this in. In all my writing, I want to convey something found in my imagination or in my life that might make another person feel something profound, something they will remember. This creative desire would later expand to my pursuit of New Media, but I think there's something pure, simple, and powerful about words on a page. Here is a small selection of some of my latest works.

The Heart Beat

In my senior year of high school, I worked as the news editor for our school newspaper, the Heart Beat, an award-winning nationally recognized newspaper for several years running up to and including my tenure. I initially came on as a contributing writer and consultant designer for whatever stories or pages needed additional work, but it wasn’t long until our faculty organizer decided to give total control as the news editor, managing all the content on the second page (the news page). Many of my pages would go on to earn high praise and spark discussion among the student body and faculty alike.
