Good question! New Media is a lot of things; it's hard to pin it down to any single topic. At a glance, a lot of people tend to think it's News Media, i.e. journalism, which isn't exactly wrong but it's far from the full picture. New Media is synonymous with developing technology. At this point in history, it's mostly digital stuff: programming, web design, 3D design, audio/video/photo processing, virtual reality, etc. But not too long ago, the telegraph was considered New Media, and the printing press before that, and so on. It's a concept, really, one that is changing by the day, and people like me are trying to find ways of working with New Media while working towards New Media.
